I'm applying to UCL, Nottingham, Sheffield and Cardiff having managed to get 750 UKCAT average which I was pleased with. But I am reallly struggling with BMAT. I can't do section 1 at all (especially problem solving) even untimed, I have a book and I've already been on a Kaplan course. Has anyone got any help??

I mean, do try to fix the problems you're having first but...

Have you considered not applying to a BMAT uni? 750 UKCAT is pretty good and should guarantee you 4 interviews if you apply wisely. Its an option.

I did think about it but I've already applied to UCL now - didn't find a UKCAT uni I preferred :/

    Hi there!

First of all - don't worry, everybody finds aspects of the BMAT difficult so please don't panic!

We have a selection of BMAT preparation advice on our website for the different sections here (Section 1 may be particularly useful for you):
    - Preparing for Section 1
    - Preparing for Section 2
    - Preparing for Section 3

Have you considered tutoring? This may help to tackle some of the problems you're having in a one-on-one setting which may be more helpful than a course with many students in. We run BMAT tutoring sessions which you can book through our website if you think you may find this helpful.

Hope this helps! The Medic Portal
