What should I do next?

    • Thread Starter

Hi, I'm currently enrolled on my second year of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT (Software Development) and it's coming around to the time of applying to uni and I'm not sure what to do or where to go, or even if I'll have the grades to get in. I kinda fluffed my first year, coming out with 7 passes and 2 merits, and being from Northern Ireland and preferably wanting to stay at home to go to uni I will need to get all distinctions this year to get the overall DDM profile to study computer science at Ulster University. My tutor, however, tells me that last year it was a DMM that was required to get into the computer science course at Magee so I'm wondering even if I did manage to get a DMM only (5 distinctions and 4 merits this year) what are the chances that I would get an offer from Ulster University etc. I would just like to hear from other people who have been in my situation, preferably from Northern Ireland but all help is appreciated, I know it's easier to get into uni for computer science over on the mainland but I sorta want to stay closer to home.

The uni entry requirements are key and if you don't meet them then you're in a bit of trouble. Are you sure you want to do to uni? Maybe take some time out to get some work experience and work out what you want to do before jumping into something expensive that you're unsure of.
