I haven't.

Well I have. 'nuff said.

It's not like a normal interview where such technique applies, you get asked questions that you couldn't have learnt the answers to.

I know what is involved in an oxbridge interview - I have been through three. You can learn the answers and the questions aren't that far out most of the time, okay they are usually technical, but the ones I attended weren't half as bad as some of the interviews I've had more recently.

Fair enough, I guess it can be depended on university and college. There was no way I could have learnt the answers to most of my questions.

I was very suprised by my interviews as I thought they would be a lot harder (I went for New College, Oxford) but I got asked a series of reasonably challenging but not crazy chemistry questions which I answered correctly, however I still didn't get in! Should've applied to Queen's really.

Are they lying? Brookes College is a coloquial term for Oxford Brookes University, and it is in Oxford is it not? You are assuming they are trying to pass themselves off as University of Oxford graduates because you assume that they would want to do so.

I agree that a lot of this naming business may be a mistate and perhaps people are a bit too uptight about it.

However on the flipside I think people are being a bit unhelpfully naive in this thread now in order to 'stick up', as it were, for the people trying to pass themselves off as Oxbridge (although why they're sticking up for them I'll never know since by there own anti snobbery tendencies they should have pitty for such people). We all know that there exist people like this from various examples cited in the thread and we are all fully aware of the behaviour in question. So let us not get caught up in such petty details that lend themselves to such naivity.

True, but if one is not lying, why change?

avoid confusion.

And it's not necessarily the academically elite who would respond well to the interview.

No, it is, that's what they are designed for.

Why is there such a high private school intake at Oxford Brookes?

Sounds like you failed to understand the questions.
Or your answers were so duff that they didnt bother to ask you the harder questions.
That is how the interviews work.
The questions get harder and harder, if you answer well until you reach the breaking point.

Happened to me >> Quite chuffed until they just became insane :/. Problem was I think she was trying to figure out how I thought but I just went stone cold silent - answer or nothing.

But Oxford interviews are interesting to say the least.

Well, of course I wouldn't now know if I answered the questions correctly, would I?

Interviews work in different ways dependant on what you wish to find out about the person you are interviewing, actually. The questions weren't easy, far from it, but there weren't any of those crazy situations you here about from other people.

Maybe he does, looking at his posts lately, they seem worse than normal - designed even more to wind people up than before.

Don't worry chemistboy, Acylote and BJ Dubois are always trolling these boards. Their replies are consistently offensive and are accompanied by a rude tone.

What amazes me mostly is that Acylote appears to be studying at Oxford. I wonder how people tolerate him?

Don't worry, because I'm not worried. T'would be a sad day if the 'witty' reposts of such 'intellectuals' as these made me break a sweat.
