    I haven't got a passport for when I apply for student finance so does that delay the application and what other things do you need

    British passports are great for identity, because they just have a database they need to check. You don't even need to send it in.

    My passport isn't British, so of course I had to post my evidence in. It took 16 days from the date that I posted my evidence in to the date that my finance was approved, and by all accounts mine took longer than average.

    You'll need an original (not copy) birth or adoption certificate, and the appropriate form.
