Alcohol lowers inhibitions, so you're more likely to express what you really think after consumption of alcohol, yet seems to make it feel more aggressive. I suppose you could say it helps to get certain things out in the open, to then be spoken about more rationally when the alcohol has worn off. Obviously, in the heat of the moment certain things can be said that aren't meant.

Personally, I usually take no notice of the words which were said in a drunken argument, but the next day bring up what started it in the first place.

alcohol practically shuts down all of you higher reasoning... people can take offense from things and start arguments that literally have no basis in reason, which can pretty much be ignored. there are some that are manifestations of real problems though...
I get pretty argumentative when drunk; I think when I'm like that, there is a grain of truth in it, but the majority of it is rubbish and I put it badly.
alhough we link drinking with having a good time its actually a depressant so that might have something to do with it.

also with alcohol almost shuts down the quality control of what comes out our mouth, we might think these thoughts while sober but we control ourselves not to say7 it.

I've never personally had an argument when I’m drunk, I don’t exactly know why they start up. Then again, I haven’t got one of those lame sets of friends where there's always like mini crises or people are falling out coz they feel left out or people have been bitching. And then when they sort it out it’s all like 'group hug!' Best friends forever!' 'We can get through anything!'

If something stupid gets said when we're all pissed or two people fight over something bizarre, it usually just results in someone saying 'stop acting like a tit you gimp' and its all sorted the same night.

If anything, the frankness that comes with being drunk usually makes for less hostility because bitchiness usually comes from people being quite covert and insidious. If someone’s pissed and they go 'when you did that thing the other day it totally pissed me off' out of the blue its easier to sort out with 'shut up moaning you big girl' than it is via those more sober arguments when you try to be slightly more polite and beat around the bush more.

I think as people have pointed out however, if you just remember that people chat **** when theyre drunk, its much easier not to get offended, so most potential arguments are stopepd with a swift 'you're drunk, stop talking crap you idiot'.

My ex had that set of mates where every time they went out to get pissed there was always a big falling out and someone always stormed off, so lame.

What’s the need for such drama? It’s much easier to not be offended than it is to be offended by petty insults or whatever.

WOMEN!!!! last night was a prime example.
I had a terrible drunken argument with the bf last nite. All becuase i didnt want to go home. It was only 11:30!!! But he wasnt impressed i was wrecked and pole dancing in front of his work friends (oooppps White wine) So anyway he like im tired we are going home, so i kicked off at him, he kicked off at me, totally made an idiot of myself in the taxi, and when i got home the bf brought my mum into the argument, now shes mad at me for being drunk and arguing with him.

But got up today nothing was said and was even taken out for lunch by him haha

Haha, Consie. :p:

And...I get really argumentative when I'm drunk sometimes. The things I start arguments about do tend to be things that slightly bother me when I'm sober, but nothing big or anything. I just seem to really over-exaggerate everything. I'm a crap drunk sometimes :P
A drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts.
