Hi, I'm thinking of taking History, geography, politics and psychology for A level, but my dad thinks that unless there's something specific I want to learn at uni, I'll struggle getting into a good uni. Are these A levels suitable for getting into uni? I'm not thinking of taking any science or maths heavy course so surely it can't be too bad?

    Thanks

history is a lot of work. i do 3 A levels and history takes up 70% of my time where as my maths take up 5% for now. and the rest is geography. just because you're not doing STEM does not mean theyre bad. history and geo are very respectable A levels and they open you to a lot of the course cos of the skills you acquire.

Hello 12LCronin! I need you to do the following.

    Ask yourself:
    1. What activities make me flourish as an individual?
    2. Which subjects do I enjoy and why?
    3. Which subjects do I not enjoy and why?
    4. Which subjects do I find the easiest to do?
    5. Do I prefer maths/science or essay writing?

You have selected History, Geography, Politics and Psychology. Please consider the fact that many universities expect maths and two science A Level's in order to enrol in their course. This A Level choice will prevent you from pursuing a lot of science based degree subjects. However, if you would prefer to study a degree in a humanities subject then this is an excellent choice for university.

Why not do your degree subject research now? Click on the "why here" for different universities.
