i work in a pharmacy im am soo lucky otherwise i would have applied to do pharmacy and made the worse decision of my life...(personal opinion).

google optometry to find out info. personally i think optom is a WAY better option. i dnot think theres any job satisfaction in pharmacy...a dispenser can do a prescription and assistants can give out advice, i still ont get why its a four year ccourse????????

im doing optom at manchester,i just finished 1st year. its an okey course but its a lot harder than it seems. i did it because i thought medicine would be too hard and too long a course, and i wasnt that dedicated. I thought optom would be softer option, but because its a 3 year course its pretty intense.

What do optometrists do? So far in the practicals we've just learnt to check eye sight through various methods, and also how to check power of different lenses. You can do various things- become an optometrist, a dispensing optician or a contact lens optician. Im not that sure about the pay- hopefully it isnt too bad. But for pre-reg you can get anything from £12,000- £15000 depending on where you go.

ye you do need 2 out of the following four- bio , maths, chemistry and physics. i think bio is a must, if you don't have it you'll have to do an interview.
And in the UK only 6-7 unis offer optom

im not too sure you will get offers with 2Bs and 2Cs but that is just my personal opininion. most universities that offer optometry ask for AAb or as a minimum ABB - so i feel if you get offers you wil hav been quite lucky! But to boost your chances off getting an offer write a strong ps and gain vital experience in that field
Hope this helps, take care and good luck with your application x

I'm very sorry, but quite honestly, 2bs and 2cs might be one of the applications that get filtered through in the first reading of applicants at your institutions. It's v likely you'd be rejected. I have friend that had good as levels (bbbc) and okay gcses, and she was rejected STRAIGHT AWAY for all three optom institutions she applied for. Luckily, Manchester offered her a place on the Audiology course there, conditions (BBB).
I recommend applying to courses that match ur predicted grades

Your uni's won't see your AS grades so it depends on your predicted grades and what you think you'll be able to get. If your predicted BBB at A Level and with a strong ps, you'll get some offers but they'll be AAB. However by clearing, BBB should be able to get you a place a bradford or anglia, as it has done over the last few years. But it's dependent on what everyone else gets!
