    Hi,

Please can you explain to me what drift velocity actually is?

The drift velocity is a type of flow velocity that specifically affects particles like electrons. A flow velocity is a vector field which contains the velocity of each part of the fluid at every point in space and at every point in time, but in drift velocity, it's not a fluid, but the electrons. It basically describes the velocity that an electron would be at at every single point in the wire at every point in time. When there is no current flowing through a wire, the average drift velocity values would be 0, since there is no net movement in electrons. When there is a current, however, the average drift velocity value would be positive and in the direction from the negative terminal to the positive terminal as all the electrons are generally moving around the circuit

    Thank you so much
