I'm always by myself in College because I didn't make any friends as I don't know how to and I'm weird. I've never been good at making friends. Is this bad as I don't have friends outside of college either and do you have any advice.

Some people struggle to make friends more than others and that's okay! It might just be that you don't really click with the people who go to your college.

A good way to start making friends might be to join more clubs outside of college! What are your interests? Do you like sport or musical theatre? Find a club and join it and it'll be scary at first but it's a surefire way to find people similar to you

So what sort of people do you like?

Do you like people who include you in their activities - ask you to join them for a drink, go shopping for shoes, send you a card on your birthday, smile a lot, always seem to be in a good humour, say hello when they see you, ask you to watch the box with them, help you with your work.......?

How do you match up? How many people have you chatted to today - ie started a conversation with?
How many people have you sent a card to at Uni?
How many people have you asked to go out?
How often have you knocked on someone's door and seen if there's anything you can do for them - want a coffee? anything from the shops?

If you haven't done these things yet start tomorrow. It is really important to learn small talk - it puts people at ease, to be universally pleasant, to take the initiative. People who seem to be popular, always seem to be going somewhere etc. have put a lot of effort in. They are constantly thinking how to plan an event for the weekend., how to include people they know, what will please Jack or Jill.
