AQA Geography 2016 specification

So I have just started a level geography (I'm in year 12, so this is what used to be the AS year) on the new specification. My teacher just makes us copy out of the textbook, which is very verbose with lots of information, and I'm finding it difficult to understand what I'm supposed to write down due to the sheer quantity of information, despite everyone else being able to make very short, concise notes.
I want to know:
1) Are there any resources out there for the 2016 specification of AQA A-level geography?
2) Are any of the resources for the old course relevant (and how can you tell)?
3) How do you make correct notes out of the massive textbook full of irrelevant information (my teacher told me that I don't have to write down most of it)?

Im in basically the same position. I brought the cambridge textbook which is a pure pile of crap. Anyone got any advice??
