M1 - Kinematics doubt

    • Thread Starter

I have solved all the textbook questions but i still can't wrap my head around how the formula s=ut+1/2at^2 works; especially in cases when we are dealing with vertical motion and s does not equal 0 and say equal 50, and we are given the max height and have been asked to find the time. How does the formula count the time at point 50 twice (on the way up and down) - how does it know? can someone please explain to me how it all works?
