Pregnant on the pill

Don't just think 'oh, another pregnancy thread'. I've done the nearest to medical advice that TSR can offer which is to buy a test. Had to do it online as am at work full-time all week & don't have time to go to the shops. :frown:

Anyway, I know this probably sounds silly- but I 'feel' pregnant. I am having very slight stomach aches/pains, feel fluctuated all the time, am piling weight on and feel nauseous in the morning (although I've never actually been sick....) .

I am on the pill & have been for 2 years. I take them everyday, but sometimes at different times but still within the 12 hour limit. I did forget a pill last week & took it as soon as I remembered but read it was okay to forget just one with the type of pill I'm on. I have run the last 3/4 packets together so I haven't had a period as such but have had tiny breakthrough bleeds each month. Also, a few months ago, I just started bleeding a really dark blood (only a tiny bit) mid cycle.

I may just be paranoid, but my mum just found out she was pregnant at 45 & I'm wondering now!!

Has anyone got pregnant on the pill?

I take it the test hasn't got there yet? I'd wait till then and see. Or stop taking the pill now (provided you've already had 21+ days of taking it since your last period) and see if you come on.

There's nothing you can really do until either of those.

If I stopped taking it now, it'd be another 3 days until I had my period & the test should arrive tuesday as I just ordered it.

Waiting game me thinks. :frown:

Is it possible that your stomach aches and such is just from not having a break? I tend to get quite uncomfortable if I run packs together, so I try to avoid it - so is there any chance that it's from that?

Hmm, I would agree - I've just had something similar by running two packs together. I actually was sick one weekend and then I was feeling generally nauseous with stomach upsets for another week or so, so I was a bit worried although I was 95% certain nothing had gone *wrong*. Then it takes half a day longer for my period to come when I run two packs together and then it continues for a day or so longer so try to relax until your test comes - I hope everything goes well for you.

EDIT: Also - I just re-read the OP's post and realised that she has run 3/4 packs together and this is something that GPs don't recommend because the lining in your uterus continues to build up month after month (or so I'm told.) This would probably make the symptoms I got from running two together doubley worse so that might also explain your feelings. Also, check the 'side-effects' of your pill brand to see if your symptoms are matching up.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, it could be that as I read (don't know how credible it is!) that you shouldn't really run anymore than 3 packs together & I'm on my 4th. Its set my mind at ease so hopefully all will be okay.

Suppose you would be really unlucky to be pregnant whilist on the pill.

I agree - it could well and truly be that. Whenever I have run 2 packs straight through, I have felt incredible poorly and very very sick, although not actually been sick. I also got pains in my side too.

So OP, it could just be that. Although not to scare you, a girl I did work with got pregnant whilst on the pill - knocked her for 6!

i do tend to get more stomach cramps on the odd occassion that i run 2 packs together so i would imagine more than anything its the small matter of running more packs together than you're supposed to - doctors only recommend running 2 together on odd occassions

Thanks for all the positive advice.

Took the test this morning & it was negative so it was a weight off my mind. I'll make sure I don't run packets together this time & then see if I am any better.
