Hi there!

Sorry to hear that you didn't receive your offers!

Our best advice would be to look at boosting your UKCAT by preparing early - make sure you leave around 6 weeks of preparation time and complete lots of practice questions and timed mocks (we have over 2,500 questions as well as a timed mock exam on our UKCAT Question Bank). Keep working on each individual section to pinpoint your weakest areas, and work on those.

We have a range of free UKCAT resources that might help you in your preparation:

- UKCAT Guide (with detailed pages on preparation as well as each of the UKCAT sections)
- Free UKCAT Questions - sign up and get 50 UKCAT questions for free!

You could also take a look at our blogs on how to make the most of your gap year and gain more medical work experience to boost your application:

- Didn't Get an Offer? Take a Medicine Gap Year!
- Reapplying to Medical School
- 5 Things To Do on Your Medicine Gap Year

If you'd like more help on the UKCAT, we have a one-day UKCAT Course, an Online UKCAT Course - and we also offer bespoke one to one UKCAT Tutoring.

Hope this helps - good luck!

No i didnt haha, but i got 3 other offers. And i changed like a couple of lines which included by gap year stuff and extra voluntary work.
Change it according to what unis you are applying to. So for example if leeds really liked it, dont change it too much if you are gonna apply there. But if you were bordeline conisder making improvements.
What unis you looking at for next year?

Manchester Leeds Liverpool and then I'm not sure about my 4th, pos Cardiff Lancaster or York or maybe Birmingham I don't know

My AS's weren't the best so I'm applying for neuroscience instead of medicine this year. This is just to be on the safe side incase I don't get the grades to do medicine. Hopefully I get good A2 results and can take a gap year to do medicine in the 2018 entry.
If I am taking a gap year, I'd like to earn and get some work experience done.

How are your A2 exams going, particularly biology, and what grades are they asking in your offers, Demi.Star?

I also highly recommend gap medics I did it over the summer in Tanzania and it was absolutely amazing, worth every penny in my opinion.

Jambo,

Wewe ina furai kwa pahali karibu yangu ya ku jalewa? (expecting you picked up some Kiswahili in Tanzania haha - I was brought up next door in Kenya).

I am a former medical student, now a specialist biology tutor.

Best of luck in your A2 exams!

Does Aberdeen have a quota in the number of non-Scottish applicants they invite for an interview or give offers?
Hi all, I'm a 4th year Med student at Barts and the London. I'm offering 1-to-1 support for any student considering Medicine 2018 entry. This can be assistance with personal statement editing according to what Med schools are looking for, guidance on the Universities best suited for your application, help on getting the right work experiences in a short time if needed, support with formatting your application to maximise your chance of an interview, and so on. I've helped previous prospective Med students who have now received offers, if you're interested get in touch! Good luck.
Guys I'm in an urgent situation. I got 5A at higher but BBC at advanced higher and am taking a gap year for medicine.

Where on earth do I apply now and what do I do? ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING!?

I spoke to Aberdeen and they said if I take 2 more highers and get A's then I might have chance of interview if I go college and do this???

Not confident on basing 1 year on some fishy info from a 10 minute call!?

Hey guys, I have recently started writing about the application procedure and my experience of getting into medicine at notts. I am happy to take any questions in comments, email or here and advise on personal statements etc Please see diaryofamedicalstudentuk. blospot. com
Hey guys

My stats: GCSE 7A* 4As
A levels (achieved): A*AA in maths, chemistry and biology (A in psychology AS)

my UKCAT is in a few days but last year I got an average of 620 so I don't think it will change much this time around :frown:

which unis should I think of applying to with low UKCAT? (my ps is quite strong as I have a lot of work experience/volunteer work)

diaryofamedicalstudentuk. blogspot. com has a very concise list of how heavy med schools are regarding the UKCAT. That may be able to help
