    MHoC By-Election

Following the low turnout in seats 28 and 50 for a second month this term they will go to by-election.

Sitting MPs are not allowed to stand in by-elections – this means that candidates will be forbidden to sit as an MP during the week of voting.

The incumbent MPs, Imperion and JTran38, as well as their proxies, will be removed from the usergroup tonight and the Labour and Liberal Parties are not permitted to endorse a candidate in this election.

Seats won under a party banner are added to the party total and are not the property of the winning candidate. Party members may only stand under a party banner – to stand as an indie requires them to resign their party membership when they submit their candidacy.

It is possible that a general election may be called by the Prime Minister during the by-election period. If so the by-election process will stop immediately and we will see the term out with 48 seats. If the PM intends to call the election during the by-election process and wishes to let me know then I will terminate this immediately, but note that I have neither the intention nor the authority to require him to disclose the date on which he plans to call the election.

To submit your candidacy please PM your manifesto to the Speaker by 7pm on Monday 17 October.

The schedule will be as set out in the Guidance Document (please note this has changed since last time around):
Day 0 (10 Oct) – Election is announced by The Speaker.
Day 0 (10 Oct) – The Speaker will inform interested candidates/parties to submit their manifestos
Day 7 (17 Oct) – All manifestos should have been received by The Speaker.
Day 7 (17 Oct) – The Speaker will post the manifestos in a thread in the Model House of Commons forum, add a secret 4 day poll with the option of “Spoilt Ballot” and send a message out to MPs informing them of the vote.
Day 11 (21 Oct) – The election closes and seats are assigned.

    Manifesto rules:
    i) Manifestos may not contain more than two image files.
ii) Manifestos may not contain audio or video files.
iii) Manifestos may not contain pictures of, or quotes attributed to, any real-life figure, living or dead, political or otherwise.
iv) Where a manifesto is received with more than 450 words, the Speaker will cut the manifesto at the 450-word mark.
If you submit a manifesto as an image file, please send me a plain text copy alongside it!!!

I encourage members of the house to boycott this election in protect of its stupidity.

That would be absurd. This election would only give the new MPs a few days before the GE but that woukd still be better than having empty seats.

I can confirm that the TSR Socialist Party will not be standing in this election. We wish all standing the best of luck, particularly any sensible left-wing candidates

While i do feel that the Liberals and Labour should be punished for their inadequacy, any candidate would only be in place for ten days at most. I shall not be voting in this by-election.

I agree, I'm all for following usual procedure but this seems a little pointless so soon before Parliament expires.

Can't wait for it to just be Tories and UKIP standing, and then watching UKIP lose to "Spoilt Ballot"

 As it happens we have a new chief whip and will be keeping a much closer eye on voting in the coming term.
