    Hi there, everyone:

I am a student applying to Oxford from the US, and I am having trouble with my Reference Letter. Although I do have two referees willing to write me letters for my US Common Application, they said they would not be done with the letter by October 15th, the UCAS deadline. In addition to my two teacher reference letters on my Common Application, I am also submitting a supplemental letter from a research lab professor, in whose lab I interned for 6 weeks last summer. He has already submitted his letter, so I would like to know if it is advisable and acceptable to submit that letter to Oxford, given my teachers are not ready.

    Thanks!

    Thank you for the summons.

Candidates can apply without submitting a reference but as a consequence selectors will assess the application without benefit of a reference.

Our advice in this case is to submit the reference available by the deadline of 15th October. If a further testimonial becoms available after the application date, this could submitted to the college applied for after the deadline. It would be best if the
school sends the second reference direct to the college concerned which will then exercise discretion over whether to forward it to the selectors.
