I just started dating someone. He's in great shape, and he offered me to exercise together... I agreed without consideration, said that it would be great and showed enthusiasm... And now it's too late to step back without looking inconsistent. But I'm honestly out of shape! I'll look like a sweaty panting mess next to him... Help?!

Everyone has to start somewhere and I think the fact that you even bothered will be something he finds admirable.

I doubt he will care... you can always throw him a jokey 'I am really unfit, worried I'm going to be a sweaty mess/slow you down' text so he's not caught unawares

personally, I look red and sweaty when I do anything (despite actually being quite fit, my whole family is the same) but have worked out with multiple boyfriends, including ones who are fitter than me and it's never been an issue

my personal approach is that it's nice to have a work out partner, I don't really care if we're on treadmills doing different speeds and if we go out for a run together then I accept we go at the slower pace... I might sometimes want to work out alone as well to push harder, but it's still enjoyable to work out with a friend

To be honest it will be good for his ego and most of the time he'll be admiring your skin tight clothing anyway. As for the sweaty mess, i imagine he wants to see that anyway.

Moral of the story is not to worry. The guy's not planning a time trial with you.
