Specsavers do free eye tests for students, a free 5-day contact lenses trial, and I like their prices. I phoned them up recently asking to order more lenses and they sent me 5 free daily pairs, which was a surprise! I'd recommend them though I don't know what other places might be like

I use specsavers.

You are usually entitled to benefits if you're a student.

I get mine from specsavers... the eye test is free (ur a student i guess...?) and the daily lenses are under £20 per month, with the monthly ones MUCH cheaper!

Reply 4

Thanks everyone, yeah I'm a student so free eye test sounds cool. The dailies soun cheap too!

i get mine from specsavers. u get free eye tests and trial period and if you join the contact lense scheme you also get free contact lense checks, replacement contact lenses plus the solutions etc, and somethin like 25% off your next pair of glasses : D (monthly £10 a month for me)

Thanks for the tips from me, too!

You should have gone to specsavers

Does specsavers include solution with their lenses or do you have to buy it seperately?

i buy my monthly ones in a pack with lenses and solution included but i'm pretty sure you have the option of buying them separately if you want to:smile:

I get mine from Specsavers - mine are £12.50 per monthly pair - i think theyre more expensive than others because theyre special crisscross lenses (dont ask lol).

The solutions and holders are free.

I think mine are expensive....should I move opticians. 30 Focus Dailies £30.00
I'm with an independent practicioner

I buy mine from specsavers.

Cant remember the price but they give me solution.

However I have to buy saline seperately. (which costs like 2.50 and lasts for ages)

Reply 13

to be honest, I much prefer my local independent optician.

I can't remember the exact price, but they're much cheaper than from specsavers, the service is SO much better (all the employees seem to know my name/I never have to wait/etc) and if I ever need more solution or extra lenses I get them free. I also still get a free set of glasses every time I go in, too.

Uh huh, i agree; go to specsavers  I think i pay £10 a month for my monthly lenses, though i'm thinking of upgrading to the lenses you can leave in all the time until the end of each month, for £3 extra.

 Do they have them...surely they can't be good for your eyes???

Reply 16

I'm at Boots.

For some reason, mine cost £30 per month.

But you can keep them in all the time, as mentioned above.

Whether they have gotten universal approval from opticians is another matter...

I use these and they're much better for your eyes than the normal ones, especially for students (the lazy things tend to overwear their lenses, don't wash them properly and nap at random times with lenses still intact!!!)

I wear mine for about 2 weeks, then have a night off, then 2 weeks again, then a new pair!

OH and I did the free trial at Specsavers, then took my prescription to Tesco.com (miles cheaper)

I have daily disposables from Specsaves for £22 a month. I like the sound of these month-long ones though. I hate having to take my lenses out when they get twitchy.

ooh, can you tell me about these leave-in ones? They sound perfect for me. How much were you paying at Specsavers and how much are you paying now at Tesco? Thanks to everyone for the advice too
