Why do people struggle to spell words? I'm only 16, and I can spell any word without looking it up.

I'm generally a very good speller, I can spell the majority of words entirely accurately. However, one word that trips me up, and always has done, is pilot. I always write "piolot" to start with...

Has anyone else ever asked their parents how you spell a word and their reply is always "Look it up in the dictionary?"

How the **** you meant to look it up if you don't know how it's spelt?

    Is it just my parents?
