Is it possible to call the exam board...?

...to ask whether my A-Level will be cashed-in? I doubt it, but ask just in case.

I can't contact anybody at my school to tell me, and nobody knows what my university will say if I don't have the actual grade (although I do have my Statement of Results which shows individual modules, but will they accept it?). I checked, and you can cash it in at any time until 15.09.2007, but I would like to have it sorted ASAP.

Nope, sorry. Unfortunately they take this stupid, idiotic policy that the candidate cannot have anything to do with the Exam Board, and all contact must be done through the teacher or the Exams Dept at your school. But by all means, you might as well try!

Did you get the certificates? if you have got the certificates then the grades are cashed in. Maybe contact your mates who went to the same school and ask if they have received their certificates.

No, I didn't get the certificate for one of my subjects.

My situation is a bit more complicated. I declined two subjects that I got a B, chemistry and biology. I was 8 marks off an A in chemistry and more than 40 in biology. I didn't know what my universities will request, so I decided to take one chemistry paper in January, together with one biology paper (and, if the university wants an A, I would take some more exams in June). I therefore told my school to cash in my chemsitry in March and leave biology until August. Chemistry was cashed in - I received my certificate today (yes, my school is quite slow ). But I don't know anything about my biology. What makes it even more complicated is that there is a new person in charge of exam entries since February.

In that case you will have to contact the examination officer at your school to find out if they have cashed your Biology grade. The exam board wont tell you. However if you want to cash your Biology grade in you can do that yourself by contacting the exam board.

If you haven't told your School to cash in the Biology grade, i don't see why they would cash it in. They will probably wait for you to tell them to cash it.

 Are you sure I can call them? What sort of things would they ask for in order to identify me?

Well, I sort of did. In December, when the exam officer at my school asked me if I want chemistry and biology to be cashed in, I told him to cash-in chemistry now, and biology in June. But then, as I said, there's a new exam guy, so I don't know what they did exactly.

Btw congratulations on your offer. If I had obtained 8 more marks in my chemistry originally, I would have finished first year of NatSci at Cambridge

I just called AQA, and as expected, they didn't want to tell me and advised me to call my centre. I suppose I'll have to wait until Thursday...

Sorry, I should have made myself clear. You can cash in a grade by filling out a form on the exam board website and posting it to them with a photocopy of your passport or other official ID. You can't call them to find out if you grade has already been cashed in. They will write to you if your grade had already been cashed in, but it takes long, minimum of 4 weeks but can take up 6 weeks.
