Freshers week Fancy Dress items?!

Hey, well im starting uni in September, and come that time i am expecting to be severely without dosh, so i wondered if there were any items that i might need for freshers week which might come in handy for dressing up...

i.e. i've just seen the thread on kaftans, for a beach party, so i might invest in one of them whilst they're in the summer sales...

will we need to take our school uniforms!?

what other dressing up nights are popular? or is it hard to guess...

heard its common for pyjama night out? might need some new ones, lol, without holes!

ta people!!! xxx

A school disco theme is quite common, so it's recommended that you take something that could pass as a uniform. Beach parties are also fairly common, so a bikini and sarong or something.

Perhaps post in your uni's board and ask what sort of themes they tend to have?

ooooooooh... yey, this means i can buy summery stuff even tho im not going on holiday, so im buying a bikini and a kaftan so far, and take some school stuff.... ta so far! xxx
charity shops are cheap and brilliant for that kind of thing

i am actually that into fancy dress that i have a box full of stuff il be taking with me.

im really upset that my friends have backed out of the "schoolgirls" themed results night dressing up-ness. i had a really nice outfit planned that wasnt your typical "hit me baby one more time" outfit and now im wondering whether it will pass as just a nice outfit.

commons themes are

Pirate
decades - maybe 70s/80s are the most popular
Toga/Greekness

romeosbitch, lol, your post made me laugh, didnt know someone could be that into fancy dress... last haloween me and my friends got told that EVERYONE dressed up in town in the clubs, i was a cowgirl, my friend was a cat, NOBODY dressed up, haha we looked like right muppets, but i kinda got away with mine, took the hat off and the boots were in style back in the day, but my friend with a black swimming costume and ears made out of bra pads looked a tit, haha!!

oooh, greek, didnt think of that, what would be good to get for that, or is it just generally a sheet tied with a brown belt.... ooooh i cant wait!!! xxx

School uniform (but sluttier) for school discos. You get in free sometimes if you wear it.
Beach stuff (but doesn't have to be over the top; just summery)
Pirate costume. There were SO many pirate parties and pirate pub crawls.
Something posh (like a nice dress) for if there's a theme like James Bond or summat.
And then somethin for halloween I suppose, although you could just wear one of the other costumes and put blood on it or whatever.
its because im rubbish at normal fashion, with fancy dress i can look amazing, normal dress im always rubbish at.

it is just normally a sheet and a belt for togas but often a lot of the girls make it look sexy by wearing maybe a white babydoll and then adding some sort of sheet shawl or something... there are so many possibilities :-)
