Applying to Medicine Watch

    • Thread Starter

Hi, I am studying Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry for A-levels. These are the GCSE grades that I achieved:
    Maths- A*
    Further Maths- A*
    Biology- A*
    Chemistry- A
    Physics- A
    English Language- A
    Geography- A
    History- A
    ICT- A
    Religious Studies- A
    English Literature- B
    French- B
    Business Studies- B

Im looking to apply for Medicine. Achieving 3 A*s, 7 A's and 3 B's has had me wondering if it will be good enough for Medicine. Are these GCSEs good enough and will I be fine to apply to Medicine to majority of the unis?

I've finished year 13 and am on a Gap Year applying for Medicine.
Those GCSEs would be good enough for a lot of universities, but you need to apply strategically. E.g. Don't apply to Birmingham as they are really specific about needing lots of A*s at GCSE.

My best advice would be do not to worry about your GCSEs now because they are done and gone. Focus on your A levels because they will be even more important in determining whether you get into medical school. Also when you take your UKCAT, practice loads for that because that's also key.
