Unusual names that you like.

I have seen people going on about about chavvy or made up names but are there any unusual names that you like?

For boys I like Cassius (not cos of Mohammed Ali), I think its Greek, but not sure. I also like Kai and Gabriel.

For girls I like Lyra (cos of His Dark Materials), Marianne and Daisy.

Plus ,off topic, but is Leon chavvy name cos i really like it but would be wary of naming my child that if it was thought too chavvy.

having just read 'freakonomics' I must say this example of one of the worst (from the USA of course) - 'amcher' why amcher you ask? it is what the parents saw first - "Albany Medical Centre Hospital Emergency Room"

for girls I quite like Kasia (good old poland) and alexis
for guys richard is pretty much standard issue in my family, though I prefer Joseph/Josef.

What is wrong with the name "Leon"?!

I'd probably kill myself if my parents had given me any of those awful names

Cassius is Roman I assume.
I was nearly named Sebastian, but that's not weird enough I guess.

It's quite funny in Half Life 2: Episode One when Eli refers to Dr Kleiner as "Izzy" because his first name is Isaac
Till and Romily.
My best friend likes the name "Sequoia" yes, like the tree and it's beginning to grow on me but my kids will have normal names
Haha I quite like Luella for a girl.
And Hartley for a boy- haha I didn't even know that was a name (let alone a boys name) until I met one of my grandad's friends!
Obviously when I do have children I think I'll go for something a little more subtle but hey!

I'd have been happy with Sebastian. My father wanted to call me Winston, apparently, but the mother and siblings weren't up for it. Not that it would've mattered a jot since I don't use my first name anyway...

I'll certainly give my children (if any) slightly odd names.

I know a chap called Rupert. Whenever I say his name I can't help but smile a bit inside. Really brightens up my day.

You'd name you daughter after county? I couldn't give my children place names.
I'm gonna name my kid Spartacus, just so he can be an ass in a crowd or at work.
