First Lesson In 3 Years, Best Footwear To Drive?

So, had my first lesson in 3 years today. Last time round, I had about ten lessons. My new instructor today took me to quiet spot, just refreshing things, then I got behind the wheel.

I was very, VERY Rusty. My main problem IMO was my footwear, I wore my brown boots, I thought Id' be OK in them but when it came to driving, found that sometimes they got in between the acceleration/brake. Im probably going to wear trainers, what does everyone wear for footwear when driving? My eldest bro wears trainers, he feels comfortable in them.

Also, being back in the front of the wheel. I had problems with clutch control, my gear changes werent too smooth, also had problems with the biting point. My instructor's car's a petrol, and he was saying, that finding the biting point for a petrol than a diesel. I think he said with a petrol, you're accelerating, then finding the biting point whilst for diesels, its finding the biting point 1st then accelerating, anyone clarify that?

Also, whats happening to the car as youre finding the biting point?

And, my instructor told me to sort my theory out. He said, that in September, there are plans to change the theory from 35 q's to 50 q's with a pass mark of 43. So gna have 2 do it ASAP, anyone else heard about it?

Thanks

nike air max trainers - Simply beautiful and comfortable when driving

I wear trainers.

Yes the theory test does change from september - but usually theres a waiting list of about 4 weeks at test centres so i don't know if you'll be able to cram it in before then. I just took mine last week and passed! The cost is going up to £26.50 too i think.

I'm confused with the biting stuff too, my instructor tells me to get the biting point then add gass, but honestly i don't think it matters too much, since at junctions he tells me to get gas first... not sure what car he has though!

primark pumps! cant beat em :P and yep from sept 3rd it changes from 35 questions to 50 and hazard is longer aswell but same pass rate just more expensive and longer to take by now alot of the theory test centres will be booked because everyone tries to cram it in but im sure there will be sum cancellations so check mayb every day and diff centres around u im sure theres more than one. good luck

I drive in pumps usually because the sole's nice and thin. Trainers are okay, drive a lot in my Lacoste ones but Nike Air Maxs are a nightmare to drive in because the sole's so thick... I always over-rev it. :P

trainers that fit well to your foot and have thin soles and ideally thin uppers - Puma make some great driver-style shoes, but if you don't have a pair don't rush out and buy some just for driving.

I've always found biting point by accelerator then clutch... although obviously with barely any time between each. And I learned in a diesel and drive a petrol in which the car doesn't shift at all when you get the biting point.

that makes more sense - the car i'm driving in only moves when finding biting point if i hold the clutch too high.

I wear my comfy Pumas.

Ideally trainers... think i've driven in anything from walking boots to sandles though. But stick to something with thin soles while you're learning to driev and getting a feel for the pedals

My instructor once told me that he had a pupil who actually preferred to wear high heels as she could kinda swivel her foot from the accelerator to the break like on a pivot or something :p: wouldn't like that personally! I always wear trainers, I can't even wear shoes with a small heel so when I go to work I have to take my work shoes in the car and drive in trainers, then change them. Comfort is so important though, you have enough to worry about without getting your foot stuck or something LOL once a friend of mine said they were wearing flip-flops when driving and it fell off and got stuck underneath the clutch!

vans or converse  either is good for me, basically anything which is not going to slip off your foot and you can bend your toes and ankles in, as you use your feet a lot!

I wear shoes with a heel on them - not massive stilettos or anything lol, but about the height a normal court shoe is. I used to wear flats but my new driving instructor told me to wear shoes with a heel because then you've got a pivot for putting your foot down and lifting it up on the clutch and accelerator. I'm used to it now, but I hated it at first!
