Hi all; Any advice greatly appreciated.

I have just started my MSc Child Nursing course. Having read the post grad finding section of the SLC site, I was under the impression that I could acquire funding for the course. However, when I go to apply, the course is not listed.

My Uni say that the course I am on is not eligible because it is being run over 3 years, but the wording on the SLC website is quite specific and does not set out conditions on which a course might not be eligible. It simply states that students studying for a Masters can apply for post grad funding.

Can anyone offer any assistance on this? I'd like to discuss it with SLC but can't find a suitable forum to do so.

    Many thanks in advance.
    Emma.

Hi! I'm in the same boat! I'm in the 2nd year of an Adult Nursing MSc. and I was given a student loan for my first year. But they are now saying that they had made a mistake and put me down as being on an undergraduate course.
We are supposed to be doing 37.5 hours in placement, so the idea of finding additional employment is just laughable! I am on exactly the same course as the undergraduates, we just have different assignments that are marked at a higher academic level, and different exams. But the hours required for lectures, seminars, skills sessions, discussion groups, and direct care nursing hours are all the same; and it is a three year course.
I don't understand why we're excluded from student finance?

    Hi nogz

A full time course must be 2 years to be eligible: http://bit.ly/2aH1jRP

    Hi BaronessBlack

You may have been assessed incorrectly initially. I would advise you to call us to discuss this: 0300 100 0607
