Hey I'm second year at City University, theres great social atmosphere here if you are willing to talk to people, if you want to talk more, email me at *******
It's fun if you join societies or clubs. Definitely improved in the last 3 years, but you need to make the effort to go out and meet people.
I'd like to join some societies and I mostly see Ethnic or Subject-based societies. I don't see much like rock band, improvisation, film-making, badminton, fencing, folk music, Harry Potter, etc. which I see at other unis. I'm looking on the Student Union societies' page or on Facebook. Are there societies like that and you just have to find them? Or don't they exist at City?
Depends on the course for me. I'm a second year law student, and I do not socialise much at all. But the uni does offer a wide range of societies you can join. It's all up to you. The societies are all on Facebook, and post events regularly.

I think this is very true... as a first year law student who missed induction week because of visa issues Ive had no other opportunities to socialize because it's just lecture, tutorial, home.

City Uni is known to being more academically-focused, rather than socially. But most students I know stick to the same as you; lecture, tutorial, home (library for me..).

I appreciate that but still..... at least something.
