Since christmas I have had a routine where I cleanse tone and moisturise every morning and every night, now it's obvious what cleansers and moisturisers do to benefit your skin, but what does toner actually do and how does it benefit? I've been doing this three-step routine because it's supposedly good but I'd really like to know what toner does.

    Thanks.

toner removes any 'dirt' and cleanser left behind after cleansing and it also tightens the pores to make it harder for 'dirt' to get into them... cool water can be used as an alternative to toner.

    yep

it's best to splash the water onto your face though, rather than wiping with a cotton pad.

so with the toner I do have, would it be a good idea to keep it in the fridge?
