On The Surgery this week we’re looking at how technology can make life better. BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards have a Make It Digital category for teens who are using technology to help others. Tune in to hear their stories and share yours.

Has technology made your life easier? Do you have an app idea that could make life better? Or do gadgets just distance you from the real world?

Join Gemma and Dr Radha on Wednesday 19th October at 9pm on Radio 1 for help and advice on making technology work for you.

I'd like an app where you can get advice and give advice. Like you are only allowed to ask for advice if you've given advice to someone else. Because I think I'm good at giving advice and I like receiving advice.

Also VENT has really helped me. Its a great app, its kinda like Twitter but for your emotions/feelings.

I'd like an app that turns off the screens of people's phones in the area around you. I'm so sick of mindless smartphone zombies that have no peripheral vision walking into me or doing the "which way do we want to go to get out of the way now that we're too close" dance.

An app which allows you to record the calories you have taken in every day and also have an exercise plan to follow through.
Every week it should be able to produce a report regarding whether you are eating healthy or not; allowing people to have a healthy weight and tackle obesity.

I took part in a hackathon once where we got put into random teams with strangers and we came up with a tinder-like app where you rate the latest snaps from space with a like or a dislike and we were able to collect the most liked pictures and put them into a category which was cool for us but pretty useless to the average person.

An app I would like to see would also be a rating appy like tinder with swipe for like or dislike except for public and private toilets in your vicinity which you would be able to upload. I would call it Restroom Rater!
