Hi I am thinking about doing economics at uni and would like to do a placement year, so I am wondering would it be worth it to put both the courses (economics and economics with placement ) down. Will this ensure that I will get a higher chance of receiving an offer? This is to the same university because if I don't get a offer from the course with a placement year, I might be able to get into the economics course right? But this will take up two of my options though ...

    Any advice ? Thanks

I'd just put down the placement year one unless the entry requirements are different. You can probably switch between the two once you're at the uni.

You can but if I don't get into the placement year one, maybe I will get into the pure economics course. I don't know whether this will boost my change of getting an offer. Thabks

Applications for 3 & 4 year courses are judged equally. Your first year grades will determine whether you're allowed to complete a placement year. The benchmark for this, at most uni's, is a mid 2.1(65%) So apply to either, do well in ur first year and ur uni's will switch u to the 4 year course. Whilst this applies to most uni's, this might not be applicable to UCL Econ course.
