2. When tissues are damaged, new cells must be genetically identical and perform the same function or the tissue would not function efficiently.
3.Plants reproduce asexually, and those that are specialised (ie, xerophytic or hydrophytic) would increase their progeny's chances of survival if they passed on identical genes that have evolved for the environment the plants are in.
