it will proberly be busy, so in theory you will be in more traffic, which means less time driving

which means less chance to make a mistake

Yeah, I agree, rush hour is actually a good time. Firstly for the reason given by (Sam) and secondly because it will affect what test route you're taken on. ie. you're likely to avoid town-centre routes with complicated multi-lane junctions etc and hopefully get a more straightforward countryside type of route.
That is what happened to me anyway.

I took my test at about 11.

However, it is advised to take a short lesson with your instructor before the test time, to calm your nerves etc.

In traffic remember to keep an eye out for bikes and motorbikes in the gaps, and don't roll back.

I had mine at 8:10am in July, so in the summer hols. The roads were much queiter, which I preferred, because it meant I wasn't rushed into making a mistake. But everyone has different views.

My tests were always early in the morning. It is a fairly good time to take it. Just watch out for the odd driver (BMW types) who can cause problems.

One of my tests was at lunchtime (1.33 I think to be precise) and the other was 11 something-or-other. Both were fine traffic-wise, although I expected there to be more at lunch time but then my route on that test was not town-centre stuff, so as said above, the time may well affect the route even though it's meant to be random (I think).

Hmm, I see. Its just that 8.10am (on a weekday when school kids will be going to school) seems too heavy. Is it worth shifting it to an hour later, like 9.07am? Friend told be if you're a cautious aware driver you'll cope in any situation... but its easier said than done, especially on a test

I thought this was going to be about drag racing. :frown:

obloquy
Booked my practical test for the beginning of Oct at 8.10am. My question - is this a good time to take the test, what with the work/school traffic, or will the instructor try to avoid the main roads?

What is the best time to take the test - if anyone has taken their test at a similar time, what was it like??

Cheers

11.41 - right before lunch.

Everyone wants to go to lunch!

And not early or late - parfait.

Maybe ask your driving instructor is you have one and see what they think? They will probably know the what the test centre is like and what is the best time. Plus i think its important to have time before the test driving around - so maybe a later one wouldn't harm from that respect.

What do people think of the time 2.30?

Reply 12

Ooh bit close to school finishing time...

Tbh, I dont think it matters what time you have. It really depends on your driving ability. The theories sound correct, but put to the test they may not succeed. Therefore, choose a time which you think is right for you.

I find that if you have your lessons have the same time every week, you grow used to the traffic at that time, so maybe having your test around the same time could work - although if your good enough to pass your test you should be able to adapt your driving to the situation.

depends where you live, i had my test at 8:10am and it turned into one of the quietest drives id ever had! and the other drivers were so much kinder as well
