I've had a look at the entry requirements for some universities and the good ones tend to ask for an A level in maths. I'm currently taking an A level in Use of Maths so I contacted some universities to ask if this would be accepted in place of A level maths and they said it wouldn't. There are some universities that accept it but I was wondering if it was worth taking maths A level as a private candidate alongside Use of Maths and my other 2 A levels to increase my chances?

    Thanks!

Definitely, unless you only want to go to those some unis that accept it.

if you want to study maths/computer science or anything related to that you should do alevel maths yes . Some of them prefer you to have further maths too so if you like maths consider doing it as well

You don't need Maths for some unis and a lot of the people I've talked to said that they use what they were taught only really in second year.

If you have the capacity for it, go ahead, it will bolster you as a candidate and show you are willing to learn and get the required skills.
