So im my 4 th week studying history and i hate it. I don't find the course as enjoyable or as interesting as i thought it would be. I get on with my flatmates but we all keep to ourselves and hardly interact. i have made no friends or even acquaintances. I feel like dropping out and redoing a few a exams and getting a part time job and reapply on a different course next year. any help?

Drop it. Now. If you don't like it, don't dare to continue it. You will feel miserable. Find a course for next year that you are 100% sure is for you. Other than that I cannot give any more advice. Good luck!

Its obviously a difficult decision. I think you should talk with a careers advisor at the university about it. The key thing you need to ask yourself is whether its the course you hate or if its the university lifestyle. The university lifestyle can improve once you've joined clubs and societies and met like minded people. Why did you choose history in the first place ? You must have enjoyed it at a level. What's different about it now ? Maybe make a final decision about it by the end of November.

I did enjoy it a a level. at degree level i'm just not interested in any bit of it, Even the modules I wanted to do such as american history. I just lost interest and i find it hard to do the readings because i just don't find it engaging
