What is it about work you dont like? do you get bored easily? or are you just lazy? As if its just that you get bored easily, try temping for a while in many different field until you find something that you think you will enjoy... hope that helps! xxx

You're not supposed to like work. That's why it's called work, and not play.

With that many clichés in one post, you must work in the promotional posters business, right?

Oh for goodness sake, get out into the world of work, then decide what you want to do, but as a tax payer i resent paying my hard earmed money so you can sit on your arse all day living off benefits. Reality check here, I hate my job, i won't be in it forever, this is a tempory situation, but for the moment this pays my rent, and for food, and other essentials in life, I go in, do my job and leave everyday, regardless of the fact i hate it, and many other people do the same.

Once your in work maybe you can decide what you would rather be doing and start making things happen for yourself.

Ive been on the dole now for 6 weeks. Although, ive been looking for work for 10. It was a pride thing... i didnt want to sign on but my mother made me. :s-smilie:
Ya... I know...

I have my first interview next week. The job is selling new fords. £25k p/a OTE + Company car. So really hoping I pass the interview. *crosses fingers*

The point is... its taken this long to get an interview. I could have applied for less well paid jobs but I know what i'm worth and what i'm capable of.

Get yourself down the job centre and use those data points to get yourself some interviews.
To qualify for dole you have to contact at least 3 companies every two weeks. Ive been contacting at least 3 a day!!!
Do something useful.

Get the job and then skive 50% of the time. Best of both worlds.

I'm the same as the OP. I hate working and I just can't stand the idea of spending so many hours in a place that depresses me and in a place that I hate - because I'm under the impression that life is too short to spend so much time in an unhappy state of affairs. I'm not a very money-orientated person so that wage slip at the end of the week doesn't really make it all that worthwhile for me(the fact that I'm only on 4.05 an hour probably has something to do with that too though...).

That's OK for me to say that now, I'm about to start university and so any work I do for the next five years will either be summer placements in the industry I enjoy, or a few hours a week in a part-time job, which isn't all that bad. I'm not on the dole and I haven't ever been on the dole, even when I went 7 months with a job. But I do totally understand the frame of mind you're in, I'm in it myself.

I currently work in Morrisons and I hate it. I intend to quit for uni in 5 weeks so I'm putting up with it for the moment because I know there's that light at the end of the tunnel - and I'm going to need the cash for freshers' week and the first few weeks of uni. But I can understand that if this was a full time job and there wasn't a light at the end of the tunnel, I can understand the desire to just quit and live on the dole.

My advice to you is to get some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. Whether that be going back to university, getting a degree and using that to propel you into higher standards of work, because let's face it you're more likely to enjoy your work if it's a high-paying graduate job with proper and significant responsibility...

Or whether it's getting a crappy wee job for now and keeping your head down and working your way up the ladder. I know it's a depressing idea and I know that, if you're anything like me, you'll have a large list of FUN things you'd rather be doing... but you have to persevere and hope it goes somewhere.

good lord.

a societal sponge. the worst kind of person.

not many people like doing unfulfilling work. i have two freakin jobs, and i don't particularly like either of them. but it's a part of life. i do boring jobs now so that i can work my way up to having a CAREER.

i can't even be bothered to tell you how much you annoy me op.

Just think of the lovely money you'll earn. Working (unless you're filthy rich) is a fact of life. Think about what sort of thing might interest you and look out for jobs related to that. Its harsh but you just have to get on with it.

If your worried about being stuck in a job with no prospects then find one with training potential. And any job you end up doing for however long is all experience. I've spent my gap year doing jobs which aren't especially fun but they've provided me with work (and life) experience and it can all go on my CV.

If a job even vaguely interests you then go for it-you never know, it might end up being enjoyable but starting out with that negative mind set will just close your eyes to opportunities open to you.
