Hello,

I am naturalised citizen, and I have never been given a National Insurance Number (NINO). I've applied for SFE and my application is approved and the only thing that they say I need to do is to provide my NINO. I've called DWP many times to apply for a NINO but they always say that if I want it because I want to get student finance then Student Finance will provide me with a number. Is that correct?

What do I need to do to ensure I get a NINO, and the student finance payments are made?

Thanks

Hi there.

Once your application is fully approved we will send a file to the DWP to check your NINO status. If you don't have one a meeting will automatically be setup at your local JobCentre to obtain a NINO.

Please ensure you have given us a UK address for this to happen.

Thanks.

My application was approved on Saturday, and I've already supplied a UK address, so let's hope I get a call soon regarding the appointment at the Job Centre.

Thanks
