My GCSE expected grades are all Cs (due to SATs; I didn't care about primary school at all) but I am currently achieving A-A*s in all subjects. Will I still be able to apply for a really good sixth form because I know I will beat my expected grades

I think that you will be able to, especially as most sixth forms want A* to C. If you get an interview, explain it to them 😊

the sixth form I want to attend is called newham collegiate sixth form and it has really high entry requirements that I believe I can achieve however I think they look at your expected grades first which is really worrying for me

I presume you still haven't done your mocks and most sixthform applications are sent for the new year.
So all you need to do is work really hard on your mocks then they'll overide your current predictions .Failing that you can always make an application on results day when you have your real exam results.

Perhaps you could talk to your teachers about increasing your predicted grades, if your recent class tests and homework suggests you can get A/A*s? I can't believe they would be using SATs grades still...

It depends on the sixth form, but mine required 5 A*-Cs AND Bs in the GCSEs you were planning to take to A level (although they were flexible on this in many cases...), so just being predicted Cs might be an issue if they are strict/ competitive.

I know! The fact that they still use SATs results for predicted grades in year 11 is crazy! I started at the lower/bottom sets in all subjects and moved up throughout the years to set 1 yet I'm still expected such a low grade; it's so discouraging.

Yes kind of stupid tbh but you should ask for better predicted ones. What are you achieving in classes? Could you speak to your form tutor, head of house or head of year about this. I know sometimes what happens is teachers give low predicted grades so it seems they achieved or went beyond what was expected of them. It is easy for them to change it even if they don't actually change.

your expected grades are irrelevant - it's your predicted grades that they see.
my expected grades were all As (based off SATs scores), but my actual predicted ones definitely weren't.
