Malibu and Coke?!?

Ok, so I often order Malibu and Coke when I go out. It's not all I drink and I usually have vodka or JD. But the burning question is.........is Malibu and coke a girls drink? If so, what makes it so? The fact that its only 20% or so in strenght? If that's the case then surely beer is the ultimate girls drink given it's low alcohol content? I like coconut like many guys i'm sure, but has this connotation put you off from ordering it in public?!?!?!

I think it's seen as 'girly' because it's sweet and coconutty :smile:

but it's really a unisex drink, i know loads of guys who have it but when out get me to order it for them :rolleyes:

My bf always takes the piss out of me for drinking it. Seriously, its my favourite alcoholic drink and I pretty much don't drink anything else (except wine).

I've never really thought about it but I guess it has a girlie ''look'' about it because it is a little less harsh than other spirits, but on the adverts its NEVER promoted to be feminine.

Haha, I'm the opposite, I usually order 3/4 drinks in one go for friends so the barstaff never know who it's for. Then under my veil of anonimity, I drink the night away!

it depends where i am, if it's a harsh place i send my 5 foot 10 friend up for drinks :smile:

We recently found that in our local cheap starting off place, a spirit and mixer is £1.30! 5 malibu and cokes please... :biggrin:

Yeah exactly. The Malibu adverts are hilarious but never would I have thought from them, that they are promoting it primarily for girls. I think Malibu needs a makeover or something! I'm usually surrounded by pint drinkers so I don't think it does me well to be seen as the only guy holding a small cup! Although no-one can tell whether it's Malibu, Vodka or straight coke i guess

I thought this was going to ask "why coke, why not lemonade?" because half of the time when I ask for that drink combination I'm told that it's horrible and that the right mixer is lemonade. Anyway, to answer your question, I suppose I do see it as girly because no guys I know drink it, but I'm not saying that it's only for girls.

once me and my friends had been out uptown, and were reeeeeeeally drunk and tried to get served at the 24-hour ASDA... it was interesting haha

! I've heard it's regarded as quite a 'chavtastic' drink but that doesn't stop me from having it!
As a side note, Malibu is best with pineapple juice.

I like malibu and just about anything, but I tend not to order it when out because it's so damn expensive, I usually have half pints of lager with lime when out (can't drink it without lime).

I think someone kinda got it right earlier when they mentioned that Malibu advertising is mainly targeted at girls. I think this is what has given Malibu this stigma as a girlie drink. Honestly the stuff tastes great... I haven't had it in a while but I used to buy it by the bottle and chill it and drink it straight. Its also excellent mixed with Pineapple juice.

Alcohol is alcohol....I can't really think of anything that totally qualifies as a "girls" drink.

really? OMG i didnt know!! I hate coke and always mix it with lemonade and all my friends think i'm mental :rolleyes:
