My friend did french, german, english and philosophy at AS level this year and achieved ABCC respectively. However, he's STILL completely unsure as to what to apply to do at university! Could anyone give me some suggestions for him? I was thinking something like linguistics might suit him? (entry requirements are reasonably low too). Or would carrying on french on its own, for example, be better? He likes the look of universities such as york, durham, etc sooo...anyway advice pleease!

With all those languages, he could look at international business/laW etc.

I doubt he'd be good enough for law at a very good uni? Plus I don't think business is his thing.

There are a couple sites he can use to maybe guide him. http://www.ukcoursefinder.com/ is one. I used it ages ago, so can't remember much about it other than it asks you questions about what subjects you're studying, etc and then comes up with a list of courses that you're suited to. HTH .

meant to add, don't forget a careers advisor if you have 1 at school.

screams law to me fo'sure.
how'dya know hes not good enough?
ABCC is respectable. i'm sure if he worked hard, he'd be able to do increase those...

however a maths as would do him wonders - will show uni's the breath of knowledge he has...

Help! I need somebody.
Help! Not just anybody.
Help! You know I need someone.
Help!
When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone I'm not so self assured,
Now I find
I've changed my mind, I've opened up the doors.
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down,
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground.
Won't you please, please help me?
And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,
my independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure,
I know that I just need you like I've never done before.
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down,
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground.
Won't you please, please help me?

Help me. Help me, oooh.
It just seemed appropriate..
