# Maths question watch

1. Cheryl drives a car 453km from Cornwall to Scotland, using 30 litres of petrol. 396km are on the motorway and 57km on normal roads. On normal roads the car averages 9.5km to a litre of petrol. How many km per litre does the car average on the motorways?

Can some please work this out and show me the workings for it as I done it but I got the wrong answer lol. The wording confused me a lil tbh. Help please xx
2. 57km at a consumption rate of 9.5km per litre will use how many litres ?
3. 6 litres

6 litres
now you can find how many litres she must have used on the motorway
5. (Original post by alevelssuck_)
6 litres
So she uses the remaining 24 litres for the 396km on the motorway

6. Tried it and my calculation went wrong somewhere but I cannot seem to find where hence me asking for help

7. 30 -6 = 24 litres
8. it's just 396/24 from there, 396km using 24L
9. You get the 24 litres for the motorway
Put 396/24 into your calculator and see what you get
10. What a preposterous question. It is about 410 miles (660 km) from Bude, north Cornwall to Gretna Green, south Scotland, not 456 kilometres. One of the examiner, Cheryl or Alevelssuck is a bit confused over units of measure.
