I've tried doing everything I've read on google.

I lay there on my back forever (supposed to induce it) but then nothing happens and I just turn on my side and go to sleep.

Start off by being able to induce sleep paralysis

EDIT: this is what works for me maybe not for everyone

i have twice, but its a long process. You need to keep a dream journal and record what you dream about, then always set an alarm for when you need to wake up and stay awake for atleast 15mins then go back to sleep whilst being fully conscious.

It can be scary because sleep paralysis...

I can do it but I have mild control over it, When 'm very emotional/happy I notice that my chances of inducing a lucid dream increases, and when I'm actively thinking of Lucid dreaming in my head again and again while trying to fall asleep. not giving up it induces a lucid dream more often than not. But I do get a side effects that are pretty scary, if I'm very unlucky I get sleep paralysis but thats rare.

I was gonna try and do it at one point but it sounded like too much effort when the reality was me having control over my dreams was probably going to make them less interesting.
