I've accepted an offer for Philharmonic court, but I'm not sure if posting room numbers is a good idea. I'm not close to what yours is, but I don't know the layout of the building.

Oh dear! I never even thought of that! But you obviously love t.A.T.u and Final Fantasy, as do I. So we may very well get on

Haha, well I saw in the other threads most people are posting their room number. But to me it's like posting your address. I'll PM you if you really want to know. :P
t.A.T.u. and FF fan? That instantly makes you awesome. lol.

Hiya!

I'm in Philharmonic, I think I'm in block X

So yeah...Hi
NO friking way, i was in X-Block last year, Welcome clan, we even made a myspace website called X-block. I notice that Ayudesu is on the middle floor, which means you will be on the 'All-girls' Floor, the top floor is the mixed floor and the bottom floor is the All boys floor. I was in room x-224, you have to tell me who lives there once you've settled cos i do miss my old room!!

the layout of Philharmonic is like this:
back gate

... Block .... Block ..... Block

Y Block Z Block .... block

X Block X block 2

Office (Collect Post from here, Steve the Porter = Legend)

Front Gate

its like a massive apartment complex but X-block is cool cos its near the front gate which i find quite ideal.

G stands for ground floor, of the X block in that example. I was in W block, we didn't really get on with the X block lot but I can't imagine that happening again next year.

Heyy guys, i will be reading law come Sept, and i was offered a room at V222. Can anyone tell me more about my block, et cetera? I specifically asked for a quiet spot (away from the entrance, roads), is there anyone who can advise me on my room location, before i accept their offer?

Ring the halls!

Otherwise, I doubt it. Most on campus halls are quite noisy, what do you expect? They can't really put you somewhere quiet as that depends a lot on your neighbours.

Some of them reported our block for having a party in freshers' week and it all started from there. I'm sure most of them were nice though but the blocks tend to keep to themselves. There's 60 people in each main block however.

V is near the back entrance and car park, but you were only going to be in V, W or X. W is in the middle of the blocks and X is near the front entrance. Y and Z tend to be for postgrads and internationals while the others are ensuite I think. But like darkeneddreams said, it's halls. Expect noise. V2 is the top floor by the way.

lol.. im in z block.. and undergrad, and randomly already spoken to a couple of people who're gonna be in my flat and neither are international or postgrad
Reply 14
though maybe v block is being used for internationals this year.. or just certain individual flats
That's strange. The only people I came into contact with were from V, W, X. Those blocks were also twice as big as Y and Z. Maybe they have changed something.

I will be in Block V, and by the way, I'm an 1st year student from Singapore reading law, so maybe Block V will have more internationals.
Not all internationals want to be grouped together though. I believe there's an option on the application form. The guy who lived opposite me on my floor was an international student.
That said we rarely saw him. He spent a lot of time with his international friends in other blocks.

lol, and it depends i suppose on how many international students there's going to be this year, if there's larger number staying at phil court than previous years it makes sense to set people up in a bigger block. i guess it probably varies year on year. so where about is z block then?

some people are awful moaners.. that absolutely sucks! they should have gotten down from their pedestal and joined the party and got to know their neighbours. its ok to be annoyed if parties are going on mid week in term time or during exams, but really they cant just expect people who have in many cases just left home for the first time not to be overexcitable, parties are part of the lifestlye. (i could understand though if it was heard all the way from the flats where families stay)
