Are guys smarter than girls or girls smarter?

Yea, I remember when ITV did that programme about whether females or males were better drivers. All they did was some crappy theory test and the females scored better. As a result, they suggested that females were better drivers, despite the fact that driving knowledge is entirely different to driving ability. Now, I'm not going to give my own opinion but it was definitely unfair. Goes to show how both sexes are good at different things.

yeah I see your point. And then there are weirdos like me who have to do things backwards.

Going slightly off subject I have to say I would never ever get behind the wheel of a friggin car.

However some men choose to downplay their academic intelligence and employ it in other areas.

Also, afaik, women are much more intelligent socially while men are much more intelligent in subjects which relate to spatial skills. Hence why men do dominate the sciences/technology and women are often in service/caring industries. That was a generalisation though - feel free to discuss.

can I be the exception to the rule? I went to uni to do chemistry and maths. now Im off to the forces to be a greasy dirty aircraft technician who welds things and fixes engines. And I love that sort of stuff.

If I was being biast, I would say that boys are smarter, but I suppose that everyone specialises in one subject (well, almost everyone), therefore which sex was smarter in each subject could not be determined as it depends which sex specialises in it most. (Hope you all understand what I have just written! :smile:

)

Anyone else realised that over 98% of all Psychology students are female (I went to some conference and out of like 500 students, there were only 10 or so guys there) while nearly all of the top recognised psychologists, professors and the like are male? Not surprising considering that Psychology is only a century or two old and was started in a male-dominated society.

There are always exceptions to every rule and it's good to hear that women are doing the sort of things generally thought of as 'male' areas.
