Haha yeah I've had that actually, but it just wasn't the same! Still, at least there they provided you with vinegar.
I know. That's why I said 'if you get really desperate'...

    Haha Aye...closest thing so far!
I just ventured out to Marktkauf. Highlight of my Tag. Lame. Though I still think I prefer Kaufland.

On an unrelated note, in 5 hours I'll be on the plane to Hannover
Not jealous... Not jealous! I think I'm getting withdrawal symptoms, this time five months ago I was in Berlin, now I'm stuck in rainy ole' England for... Who knows how long!

By the way... Anyone fancy a debate on the death penalty? It's my oral topic, thought I might get into practice with the whole 'arguing in a different language' idea before I go and make a prat of myself in front of my teacher. My written german is... Erm, leaving a lot to be desired though!

Go for it. :p: I need the practice. (Note that anything I say may well be me playing devil's advocate, though. )

Also, was meinst du zur Todesstrafe?

I have a question - how do you say "Nadja can't do anything because she has broken her left leg"?

The words in bold is what I'm not sure about (what case is it (accusative?), word edings...)

According to my girlfriend, it's correct (however she's doing some logic puzzle and isn't paying loads of attention, so it MAY not be right, but I strongly assume so!)

    Yes, it's accusative.
You could also say "... weil sie sich das linke Bein gebrochen hat". [Usually you'd translate "to break a bone" as "sich etwas brechen".]

*Again, not necessarily my opinion, but I'm repeating this in case anyone joins the conversation half way in... :p:

Also, if I've made any mistakes, someone please do correct me. I haven't spoken German for ages.

*Is that the correct way to agree with someone?
    **to keep them in prison?
*** Ooook, that's one big mess. It's meant to be along the lines of 'When does the buck stop?' but I have not got a clue how to say that.

No, not sure what you mean.

    Im, not ins.

I'll have to reply tomorrow night, I'm too frazzled to attempt more german :p:

First point... I was trying to go for the 'I agree with you, but...' kind of feel. Thinking of it, I have a sheet with lots of phrases like that on it... Dass gebe ich zu, aber... was what I was going for, I think.

Second... Right, im is duly noted.

Third... I'll just avoid that then It was kinda meant to be along the lines of if the death penalty is state sanctioned murder, doesn't that make an executioner a murderer and therefore we should also execute them... But then the person who executes them, is now a murderer... I think I'm just confusing everyone.

I understood the last point after reading your English comment at the end, but felt I'd already replied to it. :p:

Nothing important, but I suppose it's the sort of detail you'd want to get right: in German, you'd actually use the full biblical quote here, i.e. "Auge um Auge, Zahn um Zahn".

Oh, really? I've very rarely seen it fully quoted in English (but then I've never seen it in German :p:). Thanks.

    You're welcome.
As I said, it's very minor, but then again, those little details are what keeps language learning interesting...

    Yep, indeed.

I'm applying for a place on the German diploma course with the MML faculty here next year. Hopefully I'll get a place.

I´m wondering if someone(anyone?) could recommend me a good radio channel? Something popular englishspoken.... could be from America, UK, Australia, whatever...(i´d listen to it online) It should be for young people, playing charts-music/house...
