So I'm starting work experience next year in July I've emailed up to 15 solicitors and none have got back to me! When I go to their firm in person they say they're not undertaking any placements or emailing will be better, I'm fed up! Also I love my tech and mobiles so I was thinking of doing at EE but do you think that will be good? I'm debating because after I leave school I'm worried working at EE won't help me get a good job as it's not an ideal work experience or is it? I don't even know why I want to do law I'm so so confused with my life right now

    Hey there,

Have you seen the milkround website? We offer lots of internships and work experience in loads of sectors! Here's all the current vacancies in our Legal section:

Keep checking back, we get new ones added all the times!

    1) You have loads of time. Most companies probably can't offer you an informal work experience 6 months I advance because they don't know what they'll be doing then - the person who gives you the work experience may not even be in the same job by then.

    2) How long is it for? Is it just a week like most schools or more formal?

If you are state school educated, look for firms who support the Prime initiative - http://primecommitment.org/.

Also use your own networks. Someone you know will have used a high street solicitor at some point. See if they can contact you to a solicitor - and contact them about 8-10 weeks before the work experience is due to begin. As someone else said, it's far too early for most people to consider an informal placement.
