My results at AS were pretty bad, I got CCCD in ancient history, philosophy, fine art, and geography (in that order). I still don't know my predicted grades but I have heard that they are often one grade lower than AS grades. ):
I'm re-sitting my history, geography, and philosophy exams, and I'm confident I can get at least ABB, but I'm not sure if I should even try to apply to universities which expect higher than BBB if my predicted grades are going to be low.
I'm applying for archaeology and my university choices are:
    Birmingham (ABB)
    Cardiff (ABB-BBC)
    Reading (ABB-BBB)
    Winchester (BBB-BCC)
    Southampton (ABB-BBB)

Should I change my choices to universities with lower entry requirements or do I still have a chance of getting in?

Speak to whoever is doing your predictions to find out what they will be and when they'll be decided.

Find out if there's anything you can do to demonstrate that you've upped your game between now and January to get your predictions improved.

If you're predicted BBB/BBC then all of those choices are reasonable. Archaeology is unfortunately very unpopular as a degree choice which means that universities will usually have a good amount of leeway over the grades they will accept.
