    can someone please explain the difference between fertile and viable offsprings???? :confused:

    I was under the impression they were the same thing?
    I'm not 100% sure but in A level biology, my teachers used them interchangeably.

    A viable offspring is something which can be born - i.e. a horse and a donkey can have viable offspring in the form of a mule.

    Fertile offspring are those which can reproduce - in my example above, a mule is infertile - an example of a viable, but not fertile offspring.
