I am in Year 13 and currently in the process of applying to university to study mathematics and I need help on deciding which university to apply to. The subjects that I study are A level mathematics, A level Economics and BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in ICT. My predicted grades are an A in A level Mathematics, B in A level Economics and Distinction in BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in ICT. My GCSE grades are 1 A in GCSE maths,4 Bs,5Cs and 2 Ds and I am also retaking IGCSE English language to get a grade C in.
Firstly the university that I am thinking of applying to is Loughborough,Leicester,Aston and Liverpool. However, Loughborough requires a Distinction Plus AA for BSc Mathematics which is a bit higher than my predicted grades and a strong GCSE profile. so do u think I should apply to Loughborough or is it too risky to apply with my predicted grades and low GCSE grades?
Secondly is my GCSEs grades okay to apply to university and will I be put at a huge disadvantage since i am retaking my IGCSE English language to get a grade C.
Thirdly I need to find a good university with a good maths department for my last choice that has a placement year for BSc Mathematics and that is below my predicted grades.
