Sorry if this has already been asked. I couldn't find the thread.

I got my UCAS Confirmation Letter this morning, but it says only to return the slip if the university or college requires it. How do you know if your university (in my case, Bath) requires it? I haven't had an e-mail actually from the university or anything....

If your uni doesn't require it then it should say CLEARLY on the letter that that is the case.

you would only get a clearing passport is your entering clearing!!!! Don't worry about the letter - i wouldn't trust royal mail to get everything to you the next day... give them the weekend at least.

Yeah, I've decided to browse the forum before posting in future. :p: Thanks.

Only reason I asked is because my mate got into his firm but a week ago received the clearing passport. Weird.

Probably just an error by UCAS.

I phoned UCAS today due to similar reasons. On the letter, it said to tick the appropriate box and send within 14 days, but then it said at the bottom of my slip - do not return this slip, so I asked them just in case and they told me not to send it. So it's all good. They told me there's huge confusion over this lol

Can I just check, did yours say something like:

'Your Uni assumes you will take up your place. Only return this form if you wish to withdraw. Address of Uni'

If so, I can stop worrying whether I should send it just for the sake of it

Well mine said that I MUST send it to the uni, and to tick the appropriate box!
And it also said that it needs to be sent within 14 days, or you might lose your place!

There were 2 boxes, one saying that you wish to take your place, and the other box saying that you do not wish to take your place.

I ticked that I wish to take my place and sent it to the uni... This must be right, surely?

Maybe it differs from uni to uni... I have done the right thing, right?

It says this on my letter.

'In the majority of cases you will see that there is an address to which to send the reply slip and you should tick the appropriate box and return it by post. In some cases the reply slip may give an email address or a telephone number which you should use to confirm that you are taking up the place. In other cases you may be asked to contact the university or college only if you are not going to take up the offer of a place.'

So I guess it differs from uni to uni...
