An AC load takes 5 kW of power from a supply 240V at 50 Hz. The current is 30 A. Determine the power factor and the value and rating of a capacitor needed in series to correct it....
kVA = 240V * 30A = 7.2kW
PF = 5kW/7.2kW = 0.694
Z = V/I = 240/30 = 8Ohms
Z = sqrt(R2 + (XL – XC2))
XC = 1/(2piFC) so C = 1/(2piFXC)
Have no idea how to transpose Z or even if that's the right way to do it.
