    A hug.

    :hugs:

It appears the human body works different depending on whether you are social or not. If you are social, then you need to deal more with contagious diseases, so your immune system's function increases. However, if you are not social, you are more likely to get wounded (think back to those days we were in the trees), and less likely to catch a contagious disease. Therefore, the body concentrates more on wound healing than the immune system. The best cure for the common cold is therefore to be more socially active. Simple.

I would never hug someone who has the cold. I might get infected as well.

They can hug a pillow or a stuffed toy as replacement.

But, socialising with people who aren't in tune with you or who don't care about your wellbeing can be worse than not socialising. Take bullying or other forms of victimisation that happen in social contexts these are equally bad if not worse than avoiding socialising.

I have had so many colds throughout my life time and they always hit me hard. I've found the best cure is prevention, which means avoiding people who have colds and washing hands regularly, especially after going on public transport.

    DRUGS

(doesn't cure it but makes it manageable and can help you sleep - lack of sleep will make you feel **** whatever).

    My drugs of choice are:

seriously this stuff is amazing - if you're too bunged up to spray it up your nose then head over a bowl of steam and/or a vibrator on your nasal bones (shut up it works) followed by the nose spray

minimise the risk of getting bunged up again

For when your nose gets sore from all the blowing - this stuff beats the crap out of vaseline and other products

Personally I also use a low dose antihistamine to help me sleep and paracetamol and tablet decongestants to manage sinus pain.

Screw being sociable...even at school in close enforced contact with a bunch of germy kids I ended up with colds all the time.
