I've just started year 12 and I'm doing 4 subjects (English Lit, History, Classics, Politics) as well as EPQ. The things I was most interested in (periods of history, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, mythology) I couldn't do my EPQ on because of overlap with my subjects. I decided on ancient Egyptian women. However as I take 4 essay subjects I'm struggling with the workload and I can't see how I'll have enough time to write my EPQ. As it is I'm behind in it and done hardly any research. However I know it looks good when applying to unis, especially as I want to go into Ancient History.

I personally think that doing an EPQ is worth it, for a number of reasons. Doing an EPQ allows you to study a topic which interests you in depth, and also helps you to gain and develop skills such as referencing and public speaking, which will be useful for university. Additionally, if you pick a topic which is related to the degree you want to study (which you have), then it will also help to further demonstrate your enthusiasm and commitment to your subject. However, if your EPQ starts to negatively impact on your work for your other subjects, then it may be best to drop it and focus on your A Levels instead
